Recovery Email Address
To help keep your UWE account secure, we ask you to add an alternative, non‑UWE email address. We’ll only use it to confirm it’s really you if you ever need to recover your account or sort out a security issue.
Why do we need this?
- If you ever lose access to your password or usual sign‑in method—such as when you change phones—your recovery email helps us verify that it’s really you and get you back into your account quickly.
How your recovery email will be used:
- To verify your identity.
- To send a one-time Temporary Access Passcode (TAP) when you can’t sign in normally.
- To help update or reset your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) methods.
Important:
- Your recovery email is separate from any personal email you provided during registration. Changing or removing your recovery email will not affect the personal email address linked to your student or staff record.
- You can update your recovery email at any time by visiting go.uwe.ac.uk/accountinfo or in your Microsoft account. Your information is always handled in line with UWE’s data protection and privacy policies.
